very generously, lyle mays has a bootlegs page on his website,  so a tip o’ the hat to the bold lyle mays!  (he also has a store, just saying)  that page includes this show, but this version is from an fm broadcast, not mr. mays website.  it’s a great recording of a super pianist, but (as often) i enjoy having more than just piano-bass-drums.  and this show also featured tiger okoshi, billy drewes and joe lovano, so i get my wishes — and how!  maybe that’s why this is my favorite of the three shows with tiger okoshi up here, counting this one.  i could go on, but will stop here!

a bit of an unexpected break there due to covid, but i’m feeling much better now.  here’s another one that’s been lurking in the archives, waiting for the right moment, and it certainly found it!  love the lineup, a great show and a long performance (which is always nice in a great show, but not necessarily a defining characteristic).  there’s another show with tiger okoshi up here, if you’re a tiger fan (and you should be).  looking ahead, it might be a bit slow up here over the next month or so, as i’ll be travelling quite a bit, but i’ll see what i can do.

my favorite of several recordings shared by ‘glasnostrd19′ of tiger okoshi at the willow in somerville, ma.  it’s another of those locations that i vaguely feel that i know just from the recordings there, a topic that i’ve touched on before.  other places in that general neck of the woods would  include the sidedoor jazz club in old lyme, ct and also the ramada inn, schenectady, ny (another tip o’ the hat to the planetfuncamp folks and to csatennis).   little beacons on my mental map of the world, “if i’m ever in massachusetts…”.  back to this show, if you’re on dime, it’s worth doing a search for “okoshi” or “willow”.
