so we’re all hunkered down, aren’t we?  arthur’s has cancelled all shows, not that anyone would have gone.  i’ve cancelled a trip.  a good time to listen to some jazz at home.  hope you’re in the mood for a bit of brass:  saxes, trumpet, trombone and more.  and once again, led by a drummer.  enjoy!

notes from show announcement:
mario pavone, a bassist and composer, has collaborated with both legendary innovators
and today’s most respected young musicians to consistently define the cutting edge of jazz for the past 40 years.
pavone has anchored the trios of paul bley (1968-72), bill dixon (1980’s),
and the late thomas chapin (1990-97), and co-led a variety of notable ensembles.
unlike most artists whose careers span five decades, his most recent recordings are his most widely acclaimed,
appearing on best-of-the-year lists from slate.com, allaboutjazz.com, allaboutjazz-new york, coda,
the village voice, and the new york times among others.
enjoy!

here’s another offering from the fine folks at ‘planet fun camp’, who recorded a number of great shows at the sidedoor in old lyme, connecticut.  i search for them periodically on dime, just to make sure i don’t miss any.  this is a super recording (as always) of a show that i think is sure to please.  big thanks to “lisa e.” who was the planet fun camp attendee!
