i downloaded a show by eddy louiss today or was it yesterday, which really knocked my socks off. a quick search turned up a few shows with eddy louiss as a sideman, including this one which also knocked my socks off, with both him and rené thomas in getz’s quartet. it’s a killer combination, and there are a number of compositions by louiss or thomas, according to the setlist. ¿que mas hay?

Thanks very much for this wonderful session, Pete, which does not include ‘Dynasty’, which I can send you to add to it if you wish. These titles are often misspelled and miscommunicated and 3 corrections I would suggest are: Annie from Abyssinie, Theme for Manuel, and Dum! Dum! Dum! (the BluJazz release has Theme for Emanuel and Dum! Dum!, but it’s wrong). Anything by this Getz European quartet is worth getting, and there are videos as well on YouTube and elsewhere that are worth seeing.
hi charlie, ‘que mas hay’ indeed: now we know! yes, if there’s another track from this show available, i’d appreciate it. i can post it here as a separate file. thanks much for that and also the corrections. the first, abyssinie, seems an obvious spelling correction in retrospect (isn’t it always?) given that lubat was french.
aaaaand it’s up. i’ve been more that a little busy this past week. link added to the blog post, and here’s the pwd:
