i think that i don’t like the organ, and then i pull a show like this out of long-term storage while loading up the usb drive for a trip.  this great show was shared by ‘frekem’ in sept 2010.

05 track 5
06 the man i love
07 satin doll
08 body and soul
09 track 9
10 medley of two
11 encore (stella by starlight plus one)

lineage: fm > tape > recording, tracking and editing wav file in audacity > cd-r’s > wav > tlh (flac 8, align on sector boundaries)
audio quality: a- (fm)

the closing concert of the international jazz festival amsterdam (de meervaart), sunday september 29th, 1985. dutch radio broadcasts: the whole concert (over one and a half hour) was recorded and later aired in separate broadcasts.

my [i.e., frekem’s] own tapings of the broadcasts. i kept the very first opening and last closing announcements of the late michiel de ruyter, who is also audible on stage in the end. short pauses (tape flips) occur in tracks 3 (at 4:30), 7 (at 0:08), and 10 (at 8:21). although some of the “unknown” tracks (or parts) (1, 5, 9, 10, and 11) sound familiar to me, i can’t grasp the tune titles right now. therefore, any additional info on this will be appreciated.

enjoy!

  2. thanks for the groove

  3. Thanks, I missed this when it was up on Dime.

    • there are some people who seem to d/l everything. i don’t know how they do it, from both time-management & storage-capacity points of view. not to mention vacations, getting sick, etc. on the upside, there’ve been whole groups or musicians who i’ve completely missed somehow, then download one show & go on to discover a dime “back-catalogue” (as it were) of shows to enjoy.
